Design of the cover of the book “Analog Astronauts in Digital Missions” published by the Analog Astronaut Training Center in 2023.
The book is a collection of narratives from astronauts who participated in analog missions in the lunar base simulator at the Analog Astronaut Training Center in Poland. The graphic design of the cover is intended to mix past and future, tradition and novelty. In fact, the concept chosen depicts an astronaut who is writing his memoirs in candlelight, similar to the way old explorer sailors once did on ships sailing to the New World. In contrast to this intimate, old-fashioned scene, there is instead the new modern setting of Space, with the Moon and Mars in the background. To create the image on the cover, I used the rendering program V-Ray applied to a 3D scene set in Rhinoceros. Photoshop was used t for post-production of the rendering.
I also contributed to the project by writing a chapter dedicated to my experience as an Analog Astronaut in Poland (Available here, Chapter 5 “From Italy to the Moon).
